This three story multi-tenant Class A building is constructed of brick and tinted with energy-efficient glass, and features a minimum nine-foot ceiling, an elegant lobby, state-of-the-art telecommunications and fiber optics.

To achieve LEED certification, Liberty registered the project with the U.S. Green Building Council, a nonprofit, independent organization based in Washington, D.C. that promotes the construction and operation of environmentally sound buildings. The LEED program seeks to develop guidelines and recognitions for ongoing “green” building projects and operations. Independence Place was Certified Gold in January 2009.

The building’s numerous environmentally sensitive and high-performance features include enhanced daylight views, certified renewable woods, waterless urinals, low-flow shower heads and sensor faucets, water efficient landscaping, high energy-efficient HVAC equipment with special filters and carbon dioxide monitors, a highly reflective white TPO roof membrane, as well as low emission paints, carpet and adhesives.

The project is located within the prestigious Battlefield Corporate Center and is within a three mile radius of all major conveniences including Greenbrier Mall, Greenbrier Country Club, Chesapeake General Hospital, various day care centers, hotels, regional bank, U.S. Post Office and an abundance of restaurants and fast food outlets.


In 2009, this building was awarded LEED certification at the Gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council.
