For the first time in ten years, class A office space is available at 135 S. LaSalle Street, the last Art Deco skyscraper built in Chicago. The available space is located on the tower floors (28-35, 41 & 42) and the highest portion of the mid-rise floors (19-23). This was the last Art Deco skyscraper built in Chicago; indeed, it was the last large office building completed before the twenty-year hiatus in major construction occasioned by the Depression and Second World War. The forms associated with the architecture of the late 1920s have been reached here. Closely ranked vertical bands of windows alternate with narrow, continuous piers to create a verticality that is unrelenting. The long facade of the building extends from LaSalle to Clark, and the shorter facades appear as narrow towers facing the two streets. The central mass is 44 stories high, and is flanked at each corner by a tower half that high.

The 44-story building designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White is located in the heart of Chicago’s Central Loop with entrances to the building located on each of LaSalle, Clark and Adams streets. Architectural highlights include a dramatic two-story marble lobby with nickel silver and bronze metalwork. In 2005 over $60 million in renovations were completed that included improving the fire and life systems to the highest standards and multi-tenant corridor upgrades.

In the Lobby and Lower Arcade, the amenity package includes Bank of America’s flagship retail branch in Chicago, multiple ATM’s, a full-service cafeteria, florist, bookstore, sundry shop, jewelry store/watch repair, shoe shine/repair, Corporate Concierge, conference center, lactation rooms and light courts. New ownership is committed to attracting additional retailers to the already strong offering at the building.


In 2010, this building was awarded LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

This building was awarded an Energy Star label in 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 for its operating efficiency.
