Scott H Benson is the founder and Chief executive officer of Benson Commercial Realty, Inc (“BCR”). With over 25 years of Real Estate experience, Mr. Benson saw that with the closing of offices in Westchester and Fairfield counties by formidable competitors such as Cross and Brown, Studley, and Helmsley Spear in the late 80’s, that the door was open to launch his new firm. He began by securing over 10 exclusive properties near train stations throughout Westchester and Connecticut, anticipating a new wave of New York City relocations that had been witnessed in the mid and late 70’s. His bet was right. By 2010 his firm has been responsible for securing in excess of 2400 transactions with an aggregate value nearing $1 billion. He is known for his unparalled experience in landlord and tenant representation, new construction, commercial & industrial leasing and subleasing, investment and user sales, consulting and advisory services, and market analysis.
Mr. Benson began his career as Assistant Director of Retail Leasing at Huberth and Peters in Manhattan where he focused on the then emerging NoHo and SoHo markets. He then served as Managing Director of National Real Estate Management Company based in Philadelphia for two years, where he oversaw a vast portfolio of Residential, Commercial, and Retail properties throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Born and raised in Kings Point New York, Benson then returned to NY to take a position as Vice President of a prominent Real Estate Brokerage company in Westchester County, NY. In 1988 he founded BCR, which soon became one of the largest multi disciplined Real Estate Brokerage concerns throughout Westchester & Fairfield counties and the Hudson Valley Region.
Mr. Benson’s list of prestigious clients includes many of the nation’s and worlds premier company’s including IBM, CVS, Motorola, Mitsubishi, Sugai Chemical. Feintool, Coke, Belmay, Acordia Therapeutics, Hitachi, MTA, New York Life, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Marubeni, Akzo Chemical, Symm’s, Nextel, General Motors, Courtaulds, Corporate Express, VNS, McGraw Hill, Travelers, Xerox, and Metropolitan Life.
He has also worked with an equally impressive list of owners and investors including The Related Companies, Forest City Ratner, Reckson, Mack Cali, Toll Brothers, Fareri Associates, New Plan, Urstadt Biddle, Cohen Brothers, W&M Properties, Equity Residential, Gateside Development, George Comfort and Sons, Per Bar, Silverman Realty, Diamond Properties, Seaboard Properties, Simone Development and GE Capital.
He is a noted writer and lecturer on Suburban NY and Connecticut Commercial Real Estate.
