Mark Buth - Commercial Real Estate Showcase

Mr. Buth has earned broad-based real estate experience in management, leasing, acquisitions, finance, and development since he began his Chicago real estate career in 1985.

Joining MB Real Estate in 2002, Mr. Buth oversees leasing activity for all buildings in MB Real Estate's leasing portfolio. This includes managing on-site leasing representatives, setting leasing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and advising clients on investments. Mr. Buth is also the account executive and senior leasing representative at the two million rentable square foot, two-building Michigan Plaza.

During his career, Mr. Buth has worked with major tenants including American Express Tax & Business Services, Century Business Services, Dow Jones & Company, Fannie Mae, Fidelity Investments, Fleet Bank, Merrill Lynch, Pierce and Associates, and United Health Care. He has also provided tenant representation services to firms including the American Cancer Society and Principal Financial Group.

He has created value for real estate owners such as Ameritech Pension Fund, the Chetrit Group, Credit Suisse First Boston, GE Asset Management, Loeb Partners Realty, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Prudential Financial, and Triple Net Properties.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Buth was a Senior Vice President at The Walken Company. In his dual role, he was leasing agent and development specialist. He oversaw leasing activities at One South Wacker and was the sole negotiator for over two million square feet of transactions. He increased occupancy from 45 percent to 95 percent, including the 225,000 square foot United Health Care lease that was the year's largest downtown Chicago transaction.

Mr. Buth also helped organize the Walken Company/RREEF's proposed development at One North Wacker. The structure would have been the world's third tallest building. Mr. Buth was instrumental in architect selection, pro forma/sensitivity analysis, and leasing and marketing activities. The project successfully showcased Mr. Buth's adept market knowledge, marketing expertise, and leasing talents; due to market constraints, a third party ultimately developed it on a smaller scale.

As Senior Vice President of Walken-Tinsley Interests, Mr. Buth established the build-to-suit division that developed over 75 assisted living facilities valued over $225 million for a publicly traded client. He was also responsible for all financial reporting and contract negotiations.

Esteemed in the Chicago real estate community, Mr. Buth was a Chicago Sun-Times/Greater Chicago Food Depository Broker of the Year finalist in 1993 and 1995 and a finalist for the NAIOP Chicago Office Transaction Award of Excellence in 2001.

Mr. Buth is a licensed broker in the state of Illinois. He earned his BBA in Real Estate Finance and Marketing and his MS in Real Estate Appraisal and Investment Analysis from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Less
