Jay Jenckes - Commercial Real Estate Showcase

Jay Jenckes began his real estate career in January 2003 as an Industrial Associate with the Houston Office of the International brokerage firm of Grubb & Ellis. He is a native Houstonian who graduated from Dartmouth College, in Hanover, New Hampshire in 2002 where he played varsity basketball and rugby.
In October 2004, Jay was awarded the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation. Subjects for the CCIM certification include investment analysis, taxation analysis, investment counseling, tax deferred exchanges, syndications, development, leasing, installment sale analysis, sale-leaseback, market analysis and studies, and foreign investment. Once the course study is finished, candidates are required to successfully complete a comprehensive written examination that covers every aspect of commercial investment real estate and meets an ambitious financial benchmark set by the CCIM institute. Jay also received the Rookie of the Year award from the Houston Grubb & Ellis office for his 2004 performance. In 2008 he was the youngest member to be elected to the Grubb & Ellis Houston Board of Directors.

During Jay’s time at Dartmouth and prior to joining Grubb & Ellis, he gained valuable experience in several fields. While in school, Jay spent his summers in Houston working as a commercial mortgage loan assistant for Financial Foundation, Inc., a commercial mortgage banking firm. He also worked as the Marketing Director for Fire and Ice Restaurant & Club where he instituted a marketing program that revitalized business from a loss to a profitable level.
