Gerard R Dempsey - Commercial Real Estate Showcase

Gerry Dempsey, Chairman & CEO of Batavia Enterprises, Inc., graduated from Marmion Military Academy, holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton and an MBA in Marketing from Xavier University in Cincinnati. While completing his master’s degree, Mr. Dempsey started his career with The Rouse Company, one of the largest shopping center developers in the United States. During this time, he was part of the management team of the first enclosed shopping center in Dayton, Ohio.



Mr. Dempsey then accepted the position of Director of Sales and Public Relations for the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois, owned and managed by The Taubman Company of Troy, Michigan and rose to the position of Assistant Shopping Center Manager. He was promoted to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the Taubman Company had two major regional enclosed malls. Mr. Dempsey was assigned to Southridge, a regional enclosed shopping center in Greendale, Wisconsin and later became Center Manager of Northridge, a regional shopping center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.



In 1980 Mr. Dempsey accepted the position of Vice President of Batavia Enterprises, Inc., a property management and development firm, owners of commercial, residential and industrial properties in the Fox Valley. In 1988, Mr. Dempsey was appointed President and in 2007 he was appointed Chairman & CEO of Batavia Enterprises, Inc.



Batavia Enterprises, Inc. and its subsidiaries offer modern and historical buildings for lease that are available for warehousing, manufacturing, retail, residential and office use. Batavia Enterprises, Inc. is well known in the Fox Valley for their restoration of older buildings in addition to providing new buildings to keep up with rental demands. Batavia Enterprises, Inc. continues to be a dominant force in the commercial real estate market in the Fox Valley for emerging companies.



Mr. Dempsey is active in many civic and community projects. He is a Board Member of the Waubonsee Community College Foundation, a past member of the St. Charles Art and Musical Festival as well as being active in several local Chamber of Commerce organizations and continues to support the Batavia Main Street program. He holds positions on several committees such as St. Gall’s Catholic Church and the Marmion Abbey Capital Campaign Committee. Mr. Dempsey is also on the Board for Harris Bank of the Fox Valley and is the 2009 recipient of the Marmion Abbey Affiliate Membership Award. Less
